USA Today Story on Addiction
Drug and alcohol addiction takes huge toll on our country. It rips families apart, cuts productivity, and ruins lives. Because addiction-sufferers often cannot perform their jobs, they frequently make claims for disability benefits.
USA Today published a story last week on the tremendous impact that addiction has on society. According to the story, one out of five people polled for the story said they have an immediate family member who has suffered from alcohol or drug addiction. "That translates into roughly 40 million American adults with a spouse, parent, sibling or child battling addiction. And that doesn't count the millions of children living with an addicted parent," the story said.
