I'm flying back to Nashville from Seattle today--thankfully a non-stop flight--and so I only have time to post this news story and editorial about the final legislative steps in the pension-reform process. It looks like all loose ends may be tied up this week.
It's not just the airlines that turn to pension relief when their finances are in trouble. Many corporate entities have been allowed to bail on employee benefit packages through reorganization in the bankruptcy courts and elsewhere. Retirement planning has been disrputed for many older workers all over the country and the federal penison insurance fund is already over-obligated.
