Employee Benefit Statistics

I came across a vast federal government website regarding employee benefits in America.  The site, run by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, provides a great deal of information about the types of benefits offered to both private and public employees.  It allows the user to search for data and statistics on hundreds of benefit topics and subtopics.  (No, this is not how I spend my Saturday nights.)

Some examples (using 2005 data):

-36% of private sector full-time workers participate in long-term disability insurance

-28% of private union employees participate in long-term disability insurance

-21% of all workers participate in defined benefit pension plans, while 42% participate in defined contribution plans.
